which they did, except that Kirk would have changed because his father was killed and he never got to know him. The movie actually makes more sense than any other trek film before and also managed to keep the feel/spirit of TOS whilst making it more modern

yes it does. all of that is explained. i recommend you re-watch the movie and pay attention this time

The Ship (Which was made before the events of the alternet universe) was the Kelvan, which was way more advanced than the Enterprise and Enterprise-A combined in a fire fight, BEFORE the events of the movie.

Starfleet ship design (Iimproved since it was made in 2009) but also changed dew to the threat of the Nevrd.

Read up the memory alpha page it will help explain a lot of stuff

and the Kelvin is not nearly as powerful as either of the original Enterprises. It looks like it in the movie cause it has like little defense turrets, but the Kelvin can't do nearly as much damage as either Ent, or Ent-A
